How it works
Let's make things last longer ...
1. COMMUNITY REPAIR - We are a pop-up community space created to share repairing skills for the objects and things that we may all have set aside in the 'one day' pile - things that need a little attention where time, materials or the need for more confidence and knowledge have stopped us repairing ourselves.

2. WHAT WE OFFER - The event offers refreshments, biscuits (and maybe cake and definitely chat) for the cafe element and we will have repairers volunteering their repair skills to help show you how to repair an item you bring - it's a wonderful idea this repair cafe! If you are interested in how we got to this point then have a read of the background.
3. WHAT TO BRING - Clean items that you can easily carry (we cannot accept microwaves). Check the event list for the repairer skills we will have for upcoming event - it might still be worth bringing an item even if the skill isn't listed - a gathering of curious and creative repairers may be able to problem solve more than they admit to on our list! To help us match repairers to repairees please list the item(s) you'll bring here
4. WHAT HAPPENS? - The repairer will look at your items and discuss with you how a repair might be approached. They will share some of their knowledge and skills to give you confidence in future to try yourself too. They will show you what they do, and if something cannot be repaired this will be explained. We ask you to take all your items away with you by the end of the session, even if they cannot be repaired.
5. DONATIONS - Cash donations will be gratefully received and used to support our repairers for materials/tools used and to help us develop the project further.
6. LOCAL REPAIR BUSINESS SUPPORT - We will have a list of local repair businesses you can contact to continue to help keep more things working longer.
7. ARE WE LIKE THE REPAIR SHOP? - We should also let you know we aren't the Repair Shop and we don't have Jay Blades ready to welcome you on arrival - we offer our apologies if your hopes and dreams have been dashed by this news. We would advise you to find local businesses to help with such complex and skilled repairs as they do - see our list here.
8. REGISTER YOUR INTEREST - Our offering is all voluntary, our lovely repairers are giving their time for free. Please follow this link to volunteer your repair skills, offer other repair event help and/or register item(s) you will be bringing with you.See you there!
